    OWiS #15

    10 04 2010

Before I get to the numbers, I’ve got a special shout out to my Sister in Sweat Meegan over at RedStar5. Today is her first 5k and I just want her to kick ass and enjoy the hell out of herself!!!!

    WAY TO GO MEEGAN!!!

Okay, now down to business. A hard week of commitment, brings about a change. A change in the right direction…

I am officially in the 220’s!! Despite it being TOM, my body didn’t let me down. I pushed my body hard this week and today it woke me up, thanked me for my hard work and gave me numbers to be proud of. Thank you body! That’s a total of -35.7 and a -2.2 loss for the week. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I could 35 pounds lighter in just over 3 months with nothing but eating less and moving more.

    The numbers:

  • Week 0 = 263.5 (-0.0)
  • Week 1 = 257.4 (-6.1)
  • Week 2 = 255.0 (-2.4)
  • Week 3 = 254.6 (-.4)
  • Week 4 = 253.8 (-.8) *I started c25k
  • Week 5 = 248.2 (-5.6)
  • Week 6 = 247.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 7 = 246.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 8 = 244.4 (-1.8)
  • Week 9 = 241.0 (-3.4)
  • Week 10 = 240.6  (-.4)
  • Week 11 = 238.0 (-2.6)
  • Week 12 = 234.8 (-3.2)
  • Week 13 = 232.8 (-2.0)
  • Week 14 = 230.0 (-2.8) *graduated c25k
  • Week 15 = 227.8 (-2.2)

  • Weigh in #14

    3 04 2010

I really want to run today (I did run after this post). This damn rain is upsetting me. I’m up early on my day off to get out there and move. Instead I’m having to wait for the gym to open up (one hour to go) so that I can at least get a good swim in and some time on the elliptical.

Today is Saturday and if you’ve been around for a while then you know today is Official Weigh in Saturday or what I like to call: OWiS! Let’s get to the numbers.

    That’s a -2.8 loss this week. A total of 33.5

I’m a extremely happy about this, though I’m still trying to recover from yesterday’s mind session. Today is going to be a great day because I’m going to go out and get moving and then just enjoy the rest of the day…my mind might have other plans for today but this is a “fake it till you make it” situation here.

    Here are the numbers:

  • Week 0 = 263.5 (-0.0)
  • Week 1 = 257.4 (-6.1)
  • Week 2 = 255.0 (-2.4)
  • Week 3 = 254.6 (-.4)
  • Week 4 = 253.8 (-.8) *I started c25k
  • Week 5 = 248.2 (-5.6)
  • Week 6 = 247.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 7 = 246.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 8 = 244.4 (-1.8)
  • Week 9 = 241.0 (-3.4)
  • Week 10 = 240.6  (-.4)
  • Week 11 = 238.0 (-2.6)
  • Week 12 = 234.8 (-3.2)
  • Week 13 = 232.8 (-2.0)
  • Week 14 = 230.0 (-2.8) *graduated c25k

  • Weigh in #13 (or what I like to call “Just when you think you didn’t”)

    27 03 2010

    Up bright and early today.

    So much to do.

So few hours to do them.

    • Walk the dogs
    • Run the first day day of c25k week 9 (30 minutes)
    • Get to gym for first training
    • Work out (this is yet decided)
    • Head down south to Chehalis to help my husband cater a wedding

    Oh yes and Weigh in…

This has been the strangest week as far as what the scale is giving me in numbers. Up, down, up, down, up down. I resolved myself to not being freaked out. Give me a gain, fine. Stay the same, fine. Give me a loss, fine.

This is more about numbers now.

This is about challenging myself to move more and eat less.

    To run 2 minutes longer.

    To swim an extra lap.

To go an extra 30 seconds on elliptical.

To become the person I’ve always wanted to be and never had the determination to get there.

This week I was ready for anything.

    I got a loss:

I’m almost without words to describe what this number means to me. I have officially crossed over the -30 pounds mark. There was so much tweaking this week with calories, workouts and sleep I thought for sure I’d see a little bit of a gain or nothing at all.

    I was not expecting a -2.0 loss.

This week has been filled with so many positive movements forward in this lifestyle changing journey that to get a number like today is just about the bees knees!

    So here are the numbers:

  • Week 0 = 263.5 (-0.0)
  • Week 1 = 257.4 (-6.1)
  • Week 2 = 255.0 (-2.4)
  • Week 3 = 254.6 (-.4)
  • Week 4 = 253.8 (-.8) *I started c25k
  • Week 5 = 248.2 (-5.6)
  • Week 6 = 247.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 7 = 246.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 8 = 244.4 (-1.8)
  • Week 9 = 241.0 (-3.4)
  • Week 10 = 240.6  (-.4)
  • Week 11 = 238.0 (-2.6)
  • Week 12 = 234.8 (-3.2)
  • Week 13 = 232.8 (-2.0)

  • Weigh in #12…

    20 03 2010

It’s been a great week. Not just physically but emotionally. I signed up for my first 5k, I’m coming to an end in c25k (2 weeks left), I had a eye opening therapy session, I found some new muscles, two of my friends are moving more, my husband is losing weight. I’ve been conscious about the food going into my mouth and the exercise coming off of my body…

12 weeks ago I started posting my weigh ins. It was a hard decision to make them public but I just can’t hide this weight and what it’s doing to me physically and mentally any longer. I make these numbers public here, at CalorieKing and on Facebook. So far it’s done exactly what I hoped it would do…

    Create a loss.

    -3.2 this week.

    Here are the numbers:

  • Week 0 = 263.5 (-0.0)
  • Week 1 = 257.4 (-6.1)
  • Week 2 = 255.0 (-2.4)
  • Week 3 = 254.6 (-.4)
  • Week 4 = 253.8 (-.8) *I started c25k
  • Week 5 = 248.2 (-5.6)
  • Week 6 = 247.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 7 = 246.2 (-1.0)
  • Week 8 = 244.4 (-1.8)
  • Week 9 = 241.0 (-3.4)
  • Week 10 = 240.6  (-.4)
  • Week 11 = 238.0 (-2.6)
  • Week 12 = 234.8 (-3.2)
  • With the exception of week 10 (-.4 and making the realization of exactly what sodium retention looks like) I’m seeing some great numbers this month. If I had to pin point the reasons I would say the c25k program is probably the biggest factor. I’m in the part of the program where it’s just about running and pushing your body past that limit of “I just can’t possibly do this”. I’m no longer thinking about the minutes but rather what can I do to improve on those minutes.

I’m still obese (my bmi is 36 and I still have 75 pounds to lose) but what I do know is that I don’t weigh 263 today. With hard work, determination, eating less and moving more I won’t weigh 234 next week either!

Weigh in #10, geocaching, and perpetual soreness

    8 03 2010

This weeks weigh in is a little late. Busy weekend. Keep reading!

    Weigh in #10

I wouldn’t even really consider this week a weight loss as it’s so small but it’s not a gain so I’m chalking this one up to a success! My calorie intake was fine. I think it’s the microwave popcorn I ate the day before my weigh-in. Let me rephrase that: I went to the movie’s (Alice in Wonderland 3D) and snuck in 1.5 bags of microwave popcorn (and some fruit of course). The reason I think it’s salt/water retention is because I flushed out my system yesterday and saw a significant loss this morning. However I’m not using it as my weigh-in weight since Saturdays are the days and today is not Saturday!

    First the picture:

    Now the numbers:

    • Week 1 = 257.4 (-6.1)
    • Week 2 = 255.0 (-2.4)
    • Week 3 = 254.6 (-.4)
    • Week 4 = 253.8 (-.8) *I started c25k
    • Week 5 = 248.2 (-5.6)
    • Week 6 = 247.2 (-1.0)
    • Week 7 = 246.2 (-1.0)
    • Week 8 = 244.4 (-1.8)
    • Week 9 = 241.0 (-3.4)
    • Week 10= 240.6 (-.4)

That brings my total up to -22.9.

I reached my goal of 240 so I did just what I said I was going to do in weigh-in #9 which is buy myself a pair of pants. In case you’re wondering what kind of pants…keep reading!

    Geocaching:

I bought a new pair of hiking pants as my reward for hitting 240! Then I went geocaching for 4 hours this past Saturday. It was just about the most fun ever! My friend Heidi is an avid geocacher and took me on an awesome series. I’m not sure of the mileage covered but after 4 hours of nothing but hunting and walking I’d say I covered at least 10 miles (AT LEAST). I was so tired (and sore) that it gave me a good reason to move my running days to Monday, Wednesday, Friday instead of Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday.  What a great way to get a great workout!

    Perpetual soreness:

Not that this is a bad thing. I’m just always sore. Especially the back of my thighs and calves after sitting for long periods of time (and unfortunately my work has me doing just that). Some days (like Sunday) I’m sore enough in my muscles that I fore-go any type of exercise. I think the most exercise I did on Sunday was to go to my local Metropolitan market to pick up some Sole and organic veggies.

Today was a run day. Week 6 day 1 of c25k. I am 8 sessions away from graduating. I am so gonna buy me one of those shirts.

Lots of people are inquiring about whether or not I’ve picked a 5k to run. The answer is no, not yet. I’m not ready. Both physically and mentally. I want to finish the c25k and then run 3 x week at 30 minutes for a few weeks to build up stamina. I may pick one as my graduation “gift” but it would be in the Summer time before it was happening (Or at least late Spring).  When I do run, I’ll be wearing that shirt up there for sure!!!

    Weigh in Week #9

    27 02 2010

First let me start this post by admitting my tyrant about my eating episode was a little on the childish side. Yes I know eating 500 calories over your daily intake won’t go straight to my thighs and yes I know that weight fluxuates from day to day. However, I was having an emotional outburst and have since come to my senses. Somedays are so much more difficult to get through than others. Thursday just happened to be that “kind of day”. I didn’t starve myself the next day or give up and eat other high caloric foods. I didn’t skip getting exercise or over exercise. I vented…

    And moved on.

Which brings me today. This is week #9 and I am extremely satisfied with the results.  First the picture (since that’s the proof!):

Here are my stats since December 29th, 2009:

So here’s what the weekly breakdown has looked like

    • Week 1 = 257.4 (-6.1)
    • Week 2 = 255.0 (-2.4)
    • Week 3 = 254.6 (-.4)
    • Week 4 = 253.8 (-.8) *I started c25k
    • Week 5 = 248.2 (-5.6)
    • Week 6 = 247.2 (-1.0)
    • Week 7 = 246.2 (-1.0)
    • Week 8 = 244.4 (-1.8)
    • Week 9 = 241.0 (-3.4)

That’s brings my total loss up to -22.5 lbs.

This brings me closer to my intermediate goal of 240. As a reward for reaching 240 I will be buying a new pair of pants and donating my size 24 to our local Goodwill. As a reward for this weeks loss I bought 5 bunches of daffodils that will bloom all week and remind me of the good I am doing for my body.

    What’s your reward?
